With Fernando "fer" Alvarenga as a stand-in, BOOM ended 2020 on a high note as they took down Isurus to net their ninth tournament win in a row.
BOOM have claimed victory in the grand final of the FlowFiReLEAGUE Global Finals, defeating Isurus 2-0 (16-5 Mirage, 19-16 Inferno). The win marks the Brazilian team's ninth tournament victory in a row, continuing a dominant run that began with a first place finish in the South American division of ESL One: Road to Rio in April.
The Brazilian squad, who were utilising fer in place of João "felps" Vasconcellos, had little difficulty in dispatching of Furious in their opening match-up, setting up a title decider against the Argentinian side of Isurus, who had advanced directly to the grand final after Heretics withdrew from the tournament due to travel restrictions.
BOOM started the series off on the right foot as Bruno "shz" Martinelli and Marcelo "chelo" Cespedes combined to grant their side a victory in the first pistol round of Mirage, converting the ensuing round for a 2-0 start. Isurus kept themselves in contention as they fought back, stealing away the lead at 4-3, but were quickly left out of sorts as BOOM regained control, conceding only one additional round en route to a 16-5 finish.

Isurus got off to a much stronger start on their own map pick, Inferno, with multi-kill rounds from Marcos "deco" Amato nad Nicolás "Noktse" Dávila powering the Argentinian roster to a 5-0 start. shz was key in putting BOOM back in the running as he helped his side to get six rounds by the break, with Caike "caike" Costa closing the half with a 1vs3 clutch to grant Isurus a 9-6 lead heading into the side swap.
Once on the attack, fer proved to be relentless, combining with shz as BOOM seized control from their opposition. It seemed as if Isurus would be locked out of the second half as the two Brazilian players continued to run rampant, with BOOM assuming firm control with a 14-11 scoreline. With their backs against the wall and facing elimination, Isurus tightened up their defenses, winning four in a row to steal away match point before BOOM locked down round 30 with a B site execute to force overtime. There, Gustavo "yel" Knittel's troops found their footing once again, offering Isurus no opening to get back in control as Ricardo "boltz" Prass clutched a 1vs2 to close out the map 19-16 and take the series 2-0.
